On Monday morning the mother- in-law of the other pastor at our church passed away. Although, she has been sick for a little while and people have had a chance to say good bye it's still a sad loss for their family.
Then on Monday night, a gentleman from our congregation had a sudden heart attack and passed away, leaving his wife and 3 boys, twins aged 12 and another aged 9. This has sent shock waves through our congregation.
There is also other stuff happening so I would appreciate your prayers.
Blessings
Emma

From apathy to action
I have often said that the thing which is killing the modern church more than anything else is apathy.
There are many other issues which are having a negative effect on the church, but I think that if there wasn't apathy then a lot of the other issues would disappear. If you are busy looking out, then the niggling squabbles about the small stuff, don't seem to happen as much.
We are currently at a critical point at church with a large number of people are wanting more from and for church. They are wanting to move from a traditional, you come to us model of church to a, we go to them model. This is very exciting, but it is still a challenge to move people from the mindset of, 'I'd love to but.....' to I want to, 'I'm called to let's go....'
If people in our church come up with ideas, which is beginning to happen, we do all we can to support them in their dreams and ideas. But, if others don't get on board, then those who are the visionaries, the movers and shakers, end up getting despondent and more reluctant to go out on a limb and try new things.
If this happens it is a tragedy, because apathy has taken another victim, and hindered another step taken for God.
We need to fight against the apathy and take grand adventurous steps for God.

Female Role Models
Hey all
On Monday night Ms Bucket continued her education of me in the area of country music. (She lived in the States for a while and is really and American in and Australian body.) Her attempts at conversion to country so far have been impressive.
The first was taking me to see Keith Urban in concert and on Monday she took me to see the Dixie Chicks in concert. Now I have been a small time, closet, Dixie Chicks fan for a while, so this wasn't a huge sacrifice on my part. It was a great concert.
While I was watching these incredibly strong, self assured, naturally stunning, articulate, intelligent women perform, I was thinking, "with role models like these women why do young girls choose to follow the, small dog/large rat carrying, sucked in, pumped up, chemically altered, plastic, bimbo type of famous woman, that is also in the media. And I thought maybe they don't know they exist.
So would like as many women as possible to answer this post, with the 5 women (from any public arena) that inspire them most.
This will hopefully begin a list of great female role models that are out there for our teenagers to aspire to be like.
So start typing, the 5 women that inspire you the most.
Blessings

School holidays
We are in the middle of school holidays at the moment, so life is very busy.
It started last Friday with Black Stump (this will need it's own entry) which lasted until Monday afternoon.
Tuesday was recovering from Black Stump, Wednesday was work, Thursday was housework and a very Martha Stewart day. I made play dough twice, made a lemon meringue pie and cookies and then today (Friday) we went to the beach.
Nothing says holidays like fish and chips at the beach. The beach is about 1/2 hour from our house and the boys were pumped. They could choose anything they wanted for today's activities, and the beach was the unanimous choice. So we spent the afternoon, playing and splashing, throwing balls and frisbee's, looking at rock pools and generally having a great time.
We are already half way through the holidays, and I love that it feels like they have only just started. The reason I'm glad the first week has flown is because my boys, aged 4 and 7 are embracing their respective ages very well.
The week before holidays started we were hearing phrases such as, "Muuuummmmmm, he touched me." while they were sharing a bath. Or "Stop looking at me", when one child just happened to glance in the general direction of the other child.
I am just waiting for "Muuuummmmm he's breathing my air!", I know it will happen, I don't know when, I don't know why, but I know it will happen.
As you can imagine I was dreading the holidays, 2 weeks of " Muuummmmmmm, he's ........." is enough to drive anyone to chocolate. But so far so good. We have another week and then my parents have the boys for their school holiday week end.
Hopefully I will blog tomorrow about BlackStump. If you are curious about how it took me 4 days to eat a steak, click on the link and see. It actually has nothing to do with steak and a way too much to do with sausages.
Blessings
